Is this laptop worth fixing, or should you replace it?

People ask this every week. I’m Adam. You set the laptop on the counter at 2727 N Elizabeth St and I look at it with you when I can.

Laptop repair here is $179.99 plus parts. Used parts we already have in the shop are included. New parts, if we need them, are extra and I say so first. No diagnostic fee on most machines. If we don’t fix it, you don’t pay.

That’s the math. The rest is what actually failed.

Usually worth fixing

• Cracked screen, if the rest of the machine is fine
• Battery that lasts twenty minutes
• Keyboard that types the wrong keys or none
• Charging port that wiggles
• Slow because it’s full of Pueblo dust and a dying drive, and the files still copy off

Those are common. Parts are normal. You leave with the same laptop.

Where I slow down

A board repair plus a screen plus a new drive can pass what a decent used machine costs. I’ll add it up before we start. If the number is dumb, I’ll say replace it.

Water spilled last night and it won’t power on is a coin flip. Sometimes it dries and lives. Sometimes the board is done. I won’t guess a happy ending to take the job.

What to bring

The charger if you have it. The password if you want your files. A sentence about what it did right before it quit.

Same-day is common if the part is here. If it isn’t, we order it.

Drop-off vs I come to you

Cheaper if you drop it on Elizabeth Street. On-site is extra: Pueblo West is +$40, Colorado City is +$60, and the first hour on the road is a different price than bench work. If you can bring it in, bring it in.
