Data transfer to a new computer in Pueblo
Mon–Fri 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM · Saturday by appointment · Sunday closed
7-day warranty
New computer, old computer, and 15 years of photos you don’t want to lose. We’ll move them. Bring both computers to Pueblo Computer Help, 2727 N Elizabeth St. Data transfer is $89.99 with a 7-day warranty.
What we move
- Documents, pictures, music, and videos.
- Files on the desktop and in your folders.
- Browser bookmarks, and saved passwords when we can.
Programs don’t copy over like files. Things like Microsoft Office, tax software, or games need to be installed again on the new computer with your own license or account. If you have the product key or the account login, bring it.
Bring both computers
Bring the old computer, the new one, and both chargers or power cords. Know the passwords for both. Write them down and bring them, so we don’t have to call you in the middle of the job.
Old computer won’t turn on?
Your files are usually still on the drive. If the old computer is dead, we can often pull the drive and copy the files from it. If the drive itself is failing or clicking, that’s data recovery, which is a different job. We’ll tell you which one you need after we look.
Same computer, new drive?
If you want to keep your computer and just make it faster, you don’t need a transfer. You need an SSD upgrade, where we clone everything to a new drive in the same computer.
How to get ready
Before you bring them in, think about where your important files live. Most people keep them in Documents, Pictures, and on the desktop, but some programs save files in their own folders. If there’s something specific you can’t lose, like a folder of scanned papers or a family tree program, tell us at drop-off so we check it.
What happens to the old computer?
That’s up to you. Keep it as a backup, give it away, or recycle it. If you give it away or recycle it, make sure your files are wiped off it first so they don’t go with it.
