Forgot the password to your own computer? It happens, especially on a computer that sat in a closet for a year or belonged to a family member. Bring it to Pueblo Computer Help, 2727 N Elizabeth St. Password removal is $79.99 with a 7-day warranty. This service is for computers you own.

When this helps

Try this first

If you sign in to Windows with an email address (a Microsoft account), you can usually reset the password yourself at Microsoft’s account recovery page from any phone or computer. If you sign in with just a name, that’s a local account, and that’s where we come in.

What we do

We look at how the computer is set up and tell you what we can do before we start, including whether your files and settings stay where they are. For a local Windows account, we remove the password so you can sign in and set a new one.

What we can’t get around

If the drive is encrypted with BitLocker, Windows needs the recovery key to unlock it. If BitLocker was turned on with a Microsoft account, the key is often saved in that account online. Without the key, the files on an encrypted drive can’t be read. We tell you up front if that’s the situation.

Phone and online account passwords (email, Facebook, banking) are reset through those companies, not by us.

Then back it up

Once you’re back in, back up your photos and files. If you’re moving to a new computer, data transfer is $89.99.
